Cubs

The day ends as the night slowly falls. The last worker wasps are hurrying back to the paper hornet, with a supply of chewed meat in their jaws. They feed, for the last time that day, a cut of hungry larvae that protest loudly, digging at the ends of the combs with their claws. While the larvae have just swallowed their portion of meat, the feeders lower their heads, collect their antennae between their legs and fall into a restful sleep until sunrise.
