Spain 1993: It is summer in Barcelona, but for six-year-old Frida these are sad days. She watches silently as the last items from her recently deceased mother's apartment are packed away. Friends wave goodbye as they run behind the car that is taking her to relatives in the country. And although she is lovingly welcomed by her uncle's family, Frida is slow to settle into her new surroundings far from her hometown. She romps through the garden with her cousin Anna and explores the hillsides and the nearby forest, but despite the bright summer, sadness always spreads through Frida. The basically fun-loving girl behaves unpredictably and moodily, which poses challenges for Aunt Marga and Uncle Esteve. Will Frida get used to her new home?
